Jilin University has been ranked within the top 20 universities in China for its international openness, following the publication of the 2014 Chinese University Rankings by Internationalization, on Dec 23.
In the latest rankings, the University’s position is 17th out of 112 selected Chinese national universities.
Jilin University has increased its recruitment of foreign teaching staff and international students, and set up several joint-programs with overseas universities over the past five years, according to an official report published a few days ago.
The publisher of the ratings is the Research Institute of Higher Education of China’s Southwest University, which aims to use several criteria to measure Chinese universities’ progress towards internationalization as China itself integrates into the world economy.
The rating for internationalization is derived from the criteria of institutional research collaborations, international faculty, international students, exchange students and international student support.
Jilin University is also number one of all the selected universities in Jilin province, ahead of the Northeast Normal University (42th), and Yanbian University (94th).
