Jiang Chaoliang, governor of China’s Jilin province, made a field trip on Monday to inspect the construction of the Changchun-Jilin Pilot Zone, part of the Chinese national border development zone aiming to revitalize Jilin’s economy and to connect up Northeast Asian countries.
During his visit to the Jilin-based China-Singapore food zone, governor Jiang said the pilot project was a significant step in Jilin’s international cooperation, stressing that the provincial government will provide a favorable environment for the development of the food zone, which is an integral part of the Changchun-Jilin Pilot Zone.
"We should strive for the opening of the Pilot Zone on time,"Jiang said, adding that"we could borrow experiences from Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone". The overall plan of the Changchun-Jilin-Tumen River Pilot Zone received formal approval by the State Council to promote trade with border countries in 2009.
The Tumen River Pilot Zone, where the city of Hunchun is based, has accelerated the construction of an international trade logistics project, according to the Hunchun development zone committee.
Jiang, in company with other government officials, also paid visits to Changchun Xinglong free trade zone and Changchun beihu science park.
