Emergency aid for millions of people in NE China
2015-02-03
There will be around 27 million people in Jilin province qualifying for emergency aid from the local government by mid-2015 thanks to a provincial government aid program for people in need adopted a few days ago.
The program calls for families or individuals with financial problems caused by traffic accidents, illness, or fire to be eligible for temporary assistance for up to 6 months, no matter what, unless the government has just cause.
Any potential aid recipients whose request is approved can receive financial compensation, daily necessities, or temporary shelter from the local social welfare office, according to the policy, which comes in response to a State Council announcement on national assistance, on Oct 24, 2014.
