The city of Changchun, capital of Jilin province is pushing public projects through its Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) initiative, which was announced at a promotion event to encourage private companies to work together, March 17-18.

A government official said at the press conference that these would cover garbage disposal, water supply, and infrastructure projects and, "This can bring expertise and efficiency into the private sector to help reduce the level of public debt."

The Chinese government has also encouraged private capital to get involved in public projects through a PPP model.
