Bayanqolu, Party chief of Jilin province, and governor Jiang Chaoliang met with a group of standouts in the province’s campaign to find role models in the capital city of Changchun on March 25.

Jilin initiated a campaign last year to vote Role Models of Jilin, or people of virtues and those who make major contributions to social causes. The campaign was carried out by several provincial departments as the province tries to improve moral and public awareness.

Those received by the provincial leaders include Ren Guimei, who helped students from poor families for many years from Liaoyuan city, and Gao Baohua, an orthopedist who carried out free operations for more than 3,000 extremely poor handicapped people in the past 10 years.

Others are Liu Fengying, Li Dongsheng, Chen Xuerong, Zhao Zhigang, Yang Guijie, Jin Yanxia, Wu Yaqin, Chu Jianmei, Cui Guangri, Yang Xiaowei and Fan Guiying, who have stood out in the selection for their contributions to various social causes.

A total of 13 role models were chosen from thousands of candidates through several rounds of voting.
