Party and other officials from Jilin province began a trip to Russia starting on May 19, to discuss regional cooperation in machinery manufacture, chemicals, agriculture and agricultural products processing, cross-border e-commerce, and tourism.

Bayinchaolu, the provincial Party secretary, at the head of the delegation, made the first stop of this trip in Khabarovskiy Kray, Russia's fourth largest administrative region, in the Northeast, where he received a warm welcome.

The provincial secretary described the purpose of this trip as acting on the consensus that Russia and China reached in Moscow when China's President Xi Jinping visited with Vladimir Putin, on May 8. In recent years, through a joint effort, the two countries have seen some achievements in their partnership.

Bayinchaolu, who was accompanied by Li Hui, China's ambassador to Russia, said he also hopes to use the trip to speed up integration of Silk Road Economic Belt and the Eurasian Economic Union.

Jilin province is an important industrial and grain center in China, with plenty of natural resources and a good environment, and is focusing on scientific development, while the Khabarovskiy Kray area is a key economic and political center for Russia, and important for its national development.
