NE China city getting a new airport and public transportation hub

The city of Songyuan, in Jilin province now has two large transportation projects under construction - at Chaganhu Airport and a public transportation hub - with a launch ceremony for interior work on the airport held on June 2.
Actual outside construction work on the airport, near Chaganhu Lake, commenced last year, at a total cost of 1.1 billion yuan ($178 million), with the plans calling for an annual passenger capacity of 400,000 by 2020 and a cargo volume of 2,000 tons.
It includes a 4,000-square-meter terminal, and telecommunications, meteorology, electric power and fire rescue facilities, with a completion date of August 2016.
At the same time, work on the second phase of the city's highway and railway transportation hub began, a 490-million-yuan project, which is expected to be a multipurpose transportation center for short-distance, intercity passenger trains, and tourist and public transportation.
