This is the 12th year for the China Changchun International Automobile Expo, in the city of Changchun, Jilin province, at the International Conference & Exhibition Center, July 10 – 19, with the first two days mostly for the media, and the rest open to the public.
There was a press conference the first day to explain this year's expo, which covers a 200,000-square-meter area and has 137 enterprises participating with 146 car brands. The indoor space is dedicated to sedans from China and abroad, with special exhibits of FAW, BAIC Motor, Benz, and Volkswagen, while the outdoor area has recreational, commercial, and all other kinds of special use vehicles.
Foreign car brands will account for 35 percent of the displays this year, the highest ever, with German's BMW and Porsche, Japan's Toyota, Nissan, and Honda, the US's GM, Ford, and Chrysler, along with Citroen, Peugeot, and Renault, in the lineup, and of course the luxury brands Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Bentley, and Rolls Royce.
And, this year, more new energy and concept cars have been invited, 25-percent more than for last year, and 120 new cars will be released during the expo. It is also worth mentioning that the Lykan Hypersport, the vehicle used for the Hollywood blockbuster "Fast & Furious 7", will show up.
There will also be activities, such as an automobile carnival that allows visitors to try out some famous brands with different functions, and engage in auto stunt shows, and an auto photography exhibit where every photographer can take part, and with a display of stunning moments at past events. There are night sessions where entry is free to everyone, such as the city's migrant workers, or those in the public service sector who don't have time during the day.
There is also an online auto expo that the public can access through the expo website, and any type of multimedia device, to give convenience access, with a smart phone tour guide and online ticket sales, as well as expo updates, food and beverage services, and transportation information.
