Chinese president in talks with NE China officials

Xi told the gathering that China's Northeast has great potential with its population, natural resources, industries, and infrastructure, and that its industrial revitalization has been a vital part of the national strategy for 10 years, and that he has confidence in bringing the region to a new level.

Joining the seminar were Li Xi, the Liaoning provincial Party chief; Bayinchaolu, Jilin Party chief; Wang Xiankui, Heilongjiang provincial Party chief; and Wang Jun, Party chief of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, who gave their ideas on the economic structure, market innovations, China's further opening-up, international energy cooperation, with the president giving his opinions.
Xi spoke of the importance of a vibrant market system, enhanced equipment manufacturing, emerging industries, the service sector, urban infrastructure, the private economy, modern agriculture, and improving traditional industries. He also said that financial services should shift their focus to small-to-mid-sized enterprises.
He concluded by speaking about people's livelihoods and their education, employment, income, basic insurance, medical care and food safety, with the key areas of his talk being ethnic groups, rural issues, State-owned enterprise, and reforms.
