Highlights of NE China agriculture expo

The city of Changchun, Jilin province, is opening the 10-day Changchun Agriculture Expo, on Aug 14, at its Agriculture Expo Garden, the organizers have said noting that this year's theme is agricultural culture and technology.

They also say that there will be many highlights worth expecting.

Goods and foods exhibited at the expo were explored through new ways to make sure of their quality and representativeness. With the support from the government, the expo this year have some of the top 100 companies of Jilin province showing their products, according to the organizers.

The expo will also display agricultural products from other parts of China. One special item that will surely interest visitors is a banyan tree worth of 100,000 yuan ($16,000) sitting at the center of an international garden. In explaining it, Xiao Yu, a garden staff member said, "It's the most expensive and biggest plant in the garden and it took us two and a half days to bring it here from Guangdong province in the south."

There is also a hall for foreign products, such as red wine from Spain and fresh fruits brought by plane from Southeast Asia for their first appearance in China.

Another highlight will be 32 sculptures from other countries on display, which were selected from more than 700 entries from more than 50 countries. This year's expo has added a 3,000-square-meter space for high-tech equipments, such as planes designed for agricultural use and an anti-hail gun. There are also hundreds of types of rare plants and animals on display.

It certainly will give visitors a fresh experience and lots of surprises. It's open 8:30am-4:00pm with tickets available both from window and through WeChat.
