The idea was to help young couples express their love and make their wedding dreams come true with a grand ceremony on the evening of Qixi, by creating a perfectly romantic environment at the city’s business center where the loving couples could exchange their vows. And, hundreds of people were on hand to witness the event.

Qixi Festival is often referred to as Chinese Valentine's Day. It actually comes on July 7 of the Chinese lunar calendar and is intended to commemorate the legendary Cowherd ("Niulang") and Weaver Girl ("Zhinv"). This year that date falls on Aug 20.
