Jilin getting a boost from big project boom

The city of Changchun, in Jilin province has had more than 1,000 projects in various kinds under construction in the first half of this year, with all of them costing at least 100 million yuan ($15.6 million), the local Jilin Daily has reported on August 25.
The statistics comes from the city's development and reform commission. It shows that Changchun has 1,029 projects above 100 million yuan in the first half of this year, with an increase of 58 projects year on year.
Thanks to these projects, the city saw fixed-asset investment of 155 billion yuan, up 12.5 percent year on year. The projects involve the world's biggest indoor theme park, a grand indoor culture theme showplace, shopping malls, villas, themed hotels, a 395 meter-tall financial center, underground transportation, and Yatai medical industrial park project.
Changchun has some of the projects suited to its own characteristics, such as a Meiheke non-rice biobased ethylene glycol project and an "Internet Plus" project, to find its own path to economic development.
