Expo bridges int’l equipment manufacturers

Jilin province aims to enhance cooperation in manufacturing and international production under the “Made in China 2025” plan, according to a provincial official.

Chen Weigen, deputy secretary of the standing committee of Jilin Provincial People’s Congress, said that Jilin should take advantage of its automobile industry and push forward equipment manufacturing at a conference of the 10th China – Northeast Asia Expo in Changchun on Sept 1.

Nearly 400 representatives from Africa and Europe, including 150 government officials and businessmen, attended the conference on the opening day of the expo.

Jilin, locating in Northeast China, has offices from 589 foreign enterprises, Chen said.

Chen Wenlin, an official from the Ministry of Commerce, suggested enlarging Jilin’s cooperation with foreign enterprises. The province should cooperate in production capacity in several fields should be implemented, he said.

Chen Wenlin said that China and Egypt have set a good example. The two countries are cooperating on 15 projects including electricity and transportation, and China also pursues such collaboration with Cambodia and Zambia.

Cooperative models should be spread to larger fields, such as communication, textiles and finance, he added.

Government officials from Zambia, Sudan, Lebanon, Cambodia and Bangladesh introduced their countries’ policies, major projects and investment environment, showing strong will for trans-regional cooperation.

Many representatives from African companies attended a matchmaking activity for further cooperation after the conference.
