Giant pandas brave the NE China cold
2015-12-21
At the panda center in the city of Changchun, in frozen Jilin province, two pandas who have just settled in are still able to get their precious bamboo shoots by having them airlifted from their home in the city of Chengdu, in Sichuan province, along with some cornmeal buns made by handlers in the center.
The pandas travelled to Jilin this past summer for the first time from the giant panda conservation and research center in Chegdu, and will stay for three years for public viewing and scientific research. This is the farthest north that a panda has ever stayed for a long period in China and this is the first winter they have ever had to brave in harsh conditions.
