China opens radio and TV week in Australia

At an opening ceremony an Australia China Jilin Radio and Television Week put on by China's Jilin province in the city of Melbourne, on Feb 24, the head of the province's publicity department, Gao Fuping, told the gathering that Jilin and the state of Victoria share some similarities and have good prospects for cooperation.

Gao brought along a delegation of radio and TV personnel and government officials and said that the event will show every aspect of his province to give Australians a glimpse of Northeast China's culture and its latest developments, and that introduces the region and its people for more cooperation.

China's consul general in Melbourne, Song Yumin, told the assembly that the event will give people a better understanding of Jilin and, since Melbourne is the capital of Victoria and a cultural center, that it could play a significant role in greater ties and cooperation in the foreseeable future.

The week will have Melbourne's TV and radio stations carrying programs on Jilin's natural attractions, traditional culture, and socioeconomic development and will have a photo exhibit centered on its Changbai Mountain.
