Jilin boosts flower industry

The city of Changchun, in Jilin province is looking for ways to let more people to enjoy the beauty of fresh flowers and to make a profit at the same time, according to a senior government official who spoke at a press conference, ahead of the China clivia exhibition, on March 14.

Sun Zhanchun the deputy director of Changchun's agriculture commission, went on to say, "Changchun has more than a 100-year history of cultivating the China clivia, and it was named the city flower in 1984."
The organizer of the event explained further, "There will be a variety of flowers making an appearance at the exhibition, giving the public a good opportunity to learn about its culture and to appreciate it, and these flowers are a representative of our booming flower industry," then added that the government will develop the bush lily industry as part of its sightseeing tourism and for economic benefit.

The five-day event runs March 17-21 as a cultural experience and a chance to see some renowned painters with China clivia paintings, as well as professionals from across the nation interested in horticulture.

The two animations were created from the China clivia, as Sun Zhanchun introduced them as a symbolism of Changchun people's strength and fortitude.
