NE China embraces innovation-driven development

The Party secretary of China's Jilin province has announced that they need new ways to drive growth and development through innovation and has called for government to support companies in producing more value-added products to help Jilin improve its industrial structure.

Bayinchaolu made the comment during a tour of innovative companies in the city of Changchun, on March 21 saying that the government needs a strategy of innovation for revitalizing economic growth and comes up with policies and a better environment for innovation.

He met with staff from the Jilin Universal Machinery Co, which supplies parts and components for major automobile manufacturers worldwide.

He also visited new companies in Jilin's first incubator, which has helped 23 companies grow with an array of business support resources and services over the past two years, and spoke with staff members and entrepreneurs about their products, management ideas, and their R&D capacity, and encouraged them to come up with new ideas and explore possible development models.

Bayinchaolu urged Party members and government to focus on development so the entire province can maintain good socioeconomic development and concluded by saying, "We need to implement an innovation-driven development model through technological and industrial upgrades and through new ideas and favorable policies."
