Northeast Normal University, in the city of Changchun, Jilin province, was the site of the third provincial "overseas friends see Jilin" activity, on April 20, where Chinese and foreign students could talk about Jilin and share their stories, views, and perspectives on Jilin, and drew in about 200 participants from the United States, Russia, South Korea, Vietnam, Mozambique, China and elsewhere.

This event is a part of a "friends overseas perceiving Jilin" program which is organized by the Jilin government information office and Jilin education department with help from Northeast Normal University, who say it is expected to help build Jilin's images globally and give foreigners a greater understanding of the province.

The meeting also had a lecture from the provincial government information office on conditions in the place they're living in, and there were awards to participants who addressed the gathering, such as tickets to provincial tourist attractions.

More foreigners are working or studying in Jilin as the province develops, with about 1,000 foreign experts and 7,000 foreign students from more than 140 countries living here so the organizers of this program say there will be a "showing Jilin" event, "photographing Jilin" contest and a performance.
