World's tourism towns to share resources

As tourism continues to grow worldwide, the Changbai Mountain area in Jilin province is talking with other scenic spots in China and abroad about forming an alliance for better development ideas and international connections and exchanges.
The alliance which will be under the name World Tourism Town Organization, or T20, , is picking the Top 20 destinations, such as Davos, Switzerland, Giethoorn, Netherlands, and Lake Como, Italy, and will hold a meeting on Changbai Mountain, on June 26 to celebrate its establishment.
The organizing committee will collect 30 famous scenic spots from around the world and select 20 of the best.
The organizers of the event are the Jilin government, the International Tourism Studies Association, with sponsorships from the Changbai Mountain Protection and Development Committee and Jilin Tourism Department.
Changbai Mountain is famous for its scenery, skiing, and hot springs.
Last year, Jilin province saw a big increase in its tourism business, attracting 7.7-million visitors during the Spring Festival holiday, with spending reaching 6.18-billion yuan ($988 million), a 20.4-percent year-on-year increase, according to its tourism bureau.
