An array of consensus -- including key environmental programs and the construction of a big data platform -- was reached in Beijing after a meeting between the Jilin provincial government and the Ministry of Environmental Protection, reported the chinajilin.com.cn on June 10.

Jilin will begin a program to treat the Songhua River comprehensively, to better implement the policy of the prevention and control of water pollution and to implement the energy conservation and emission reduction policy in an all-round manner, according to the report.

Projects under the 13th Five Year Plan, including making good use of straw and building the ecological compensation mechanism, will serve as a guarantee for a new round of revitalization and development within the province.

Chen Jining, the head of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, said Jilin had made great achievements in improving local environment which laid a solid foundation for future green development.

The Jilin provincial governor, Jiang Chao, provided a briefing on local environment protection and promised to build a livable and beautiful Jilin for the people.
