The provincial governor of Jilin province, Jiang Liangchao, went to the provincial military region No.4 cadre sanitarium to visit soldiers on active duty and former Red Army warriors, on July 25, and gave his greetings and blessings to retired officers, injured servicemen and veterans as Army Day approaches.
Accompanied by vice provincial governor Sui Zhongcheng, military region commissar Hong Wei and other officers, Jiang visited the trophy room and the reading room in the sanitarium. He emphasized the tradition of respect for veteran cadres and said that they have been contributing to regional development by extending ''red classics'' to college students. He added that the government has been committed to guaranteeing veterans' health since the establishment of the sanitarium and will create a more comfortable environment for them.
Jiang also paid a visit to Wang Jichuan, a 98-year-old former Red Army soldier, who began her revolutionary career in 1937 and has continued devoting a lot to the Party and the country. '' I'm nobody but a loyal soldier,'' said Wang during the talk with the governor, adding, ''even though I've become too old, I would still step forward to fight, if the country called.'' Moved by these words, Jiang indicated that the government must pay attention to retired cadres' living conditions and take good care of these warriors, who have worked hard for the country's prosperity all their lives.
