On June 10, the groundbreaking ceremony was held for Wal-Mart to set up its first Sam’s Club in Northeast China at Xianglujiao Logistics Park in Dalian, a city in Liaoning province.
It will be completed and open during the second half of next year. Sam's Club will not only meet the demands of high-end consumers but also provide thousands of jobs for locals.
Wal-Mart Sam's Club is the largest retailer in the world, a member of the US-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc., which uses the membership warehouse business model. Since Wal-Mart opened its first Sam’s Club in the US in 1983, it has opened more than 700 Sam’s Clubs and provides services to more than 50 million members worldwide.
In 1996, Wal-Mart Sam’s Club entered into China’s market and established its first store in Shenzhen. Today, Wal-Mart chose to open its first Sam’s Club in Northeast China in Dalian, indicating a new era of cooperation between Dalian and Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
