Tiger Mountain Scenic Site is located about 12 kilometers to the northeast of Dandong in Liaoning province and about 272 kilometers from Shenyang. It is an important scenic site of the Yalu River National Scenic Zone, a national AAAA-Class scenic site, and a national unit for protection of cultural relics.
The site specializes in ancient military cultural relic tourism, with border tourism and revolutionary heritage tourism as new features. It has famous sights such as Hushan Great Wall, the “single-step crossing” Sino-Korean border, Sleeping Avalokitesvara, Great Wall history museum and ancient road relics.
Hushan Great Wall, completed in 1469 during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), has more than 500 years of history. A recent renovation has restored its imposing manner. Climbing on top of the 146.3-meter peak, tourists might come to better understand he meaning of: “One who fails to reach the Great Wall is not a hero.”
The “Single-step to Cross the Border Site” is nearest to Korean lands and rivers It gets its name for reaching Korea in one step.
