The2011 National Annual Meeting on County Economic and Scientific Development was held in Jiangyin, Jiangsu province on August 20, where the 11th list of "China Top 100 Counties (or cities at county-level) of Basic Economic Competitiveness" was publicized. Fengcheng in Liaoning province's Dandong city, was enlisted on the list for the first time, ranking 87th.
There were 2001 county-level economies included in the evaluation.
Fengcheng set the goal of being enlisted on the China top 100 counties in 2006. In the past five years, the Fengcheng government pushed forward the construction of its industrial clusters and agricultural industrialization. Meanwhile, the government supported the third industry based on its rich natural resources and industrial foundations. The county-level economy of Fengcheng has achieved great economic progress.
During the 11th Five-Year Plan period, Fengcheng's key economic indicators came out on top in Liaoning province. It realized a total output value of 27.28 billion yuan ($4.27 billion) in 2010, an increase of 36.4 percent on a year-on-year basis. Its local total fixed assets investment achieved 26 billion yuan ($4.07 billion), a 99.2 percent year-on-year increase and its general budget revenue was 1.67 billion yuan ($261.2 million), a 46.2 percent year-on-year increase. Fengcheng achieved the seventh greatest economic development in Liaoning province.
The total retail sales of social consumption generated 4.72 billion yuan ($738.2 million), up 19 percent year on year; the urban per capita disposable income was 16,102 yuan ($2,518), and the rural per capita net income was 8,207 yuan ($1,284), a year-on-year increase of 16.6 percent.
