The opening ceremony of the tenth Liaoning (Dandong)-Taiwan Week was held on the morning of Sept 9.
This year's event was bigger in scale than previous sessions. It provided an exchange opportunity for the Chinese people across the Taiwan Straits to seek common development. Liaoning is ready to provide more and better investment opportunities and conditions for Taiwan businessmen.
Liaoning province enjoys sufficient electrical power at low prices and friendly labor resources. Companies investing in Liaoning enjoy discount loans. More policies are available for companies that go public or make acquisition of foreign scientific and technological enterprises.
Guests and officials who attended the opening ceremony included: Wang Yi, director of Taiwan Affairs Office of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, Chen Zhenggao, Liaoning provincial governor, and Lin Fengzheng, vice chairman of Kuomintang (KMT). More than 300 Taiwan businessmen and Liaoning officials attended the ceremony.
Liaoning and Taiwan have made fruitful achievements on exchanges and cooperation in various fields. The week was an important platform for economic and trade exchanges between the two sides, said Wang Yi.
More than 3,000 Taiwan-funded enterprises are operating in Liaoning with a total investment of more than $10 billion.
The opening ceremony was presided by Bing Zhigang, Liaoning's vice governor.
The event was sponsored by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council and the Liaoning Provincial Government, and organized by the Liaoning Provincial Taiwan Affairs Office, the Liaoning Provincial Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau and the Dandong Municipal Government.
