Dandong was listed in the "China Ten Important Border Cities" at the Chinese border cities summit on Dec 21st. The award ceremony was held in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan province in Southwest China.

Song Liyue, a standing committee member of the Dandong CPC Municipal Committee and head of the city's publicity department, attended the award ceremony. He participated in the summit forum dialogue on "Characteristic Development of the Border City Model - Now and in the Future".

Co-held by Global Times and Sina.com, the summit is an important part of the large-scale public charity activity called "Border Cities - Not Far Away". After a six month evaluation, Dandong was awarded the "Best Model Border City of Sustainable Development" as one of the top ten border cities for its economic and social development.

At the ceremony, Song introduced Dandong's resources, tourism, location, and investment advantages. He said that Dandong is a prosperous modern port city and an ideal place to live in.
