China-DPRK cultural art exhibition opens in Dandong

The China-DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) cultural art exhibition opened on April 12, 2012 in Dandong, Liaoning province. Song Liyue, Gao Shijun and Lv Zongze, leaders of the city attended the opening ceremony. Girls from the DPRK wearing their traditional costumes danced and attracted the attention of tourists and citizens.

The exhibit was co-sponsored by the Dandong International Culture Association, the Dandong Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the DPRK exhibition bureau for foreign countries. It aimed to consolidate the friendly relationship between China and the DPRK to promote cultural exchanges between the two countries.

This exhibition also serves as a bridge of communication between people of both countries, enhancing their mutual understanding and deepening Dandong citizen's cognition of the modern culture and arts in North Korea.

At the exhibition, a total of over 150 photos will be exhibited. As many as 200 paintings, oil paintings and craft paintings from the DPRK will be on display. Visitors can see 200 various kinds of materials including albums of paintings, pictorials, books and videos. Works of art with Korean characteristics, like hand embroideries and stamps, will also be showed to the audience.
