Near the mouth of the Yalu River, 300, 000 six-centimeter-long Fugu rubripes were released into the Yalu River on June 21, 2012. The city plans to release up to one million of the fish fry within this year, according to the Dandong Oceanic and Fishery Administration.
Dandong started to release the Fugu rubripes three years ago. The number, natural reproductive capacity and population dominance of the fish are in a state of steady recovery.
The released fish fry will also be marked similar to last year. If any marked adult fishes are caught, they can be used for research on the living environment of Fugu rubripes.
