The gross domestic product (GDP) of Dandong achieved a year-on-year growth of 10.2 percent in the first half of 2012, one percent higher than the average growth in Liaoning province. The city's GDP amounted to 47.17 billion yuan ($7.41 billion), ranking ninth in the province.
The industrial economy took the lead in economic growth, accounting for 48.24 percent of the GDP, with added value of large industries reaching 20.6 billion yuan, up 11.5 percent from a year earlier.
