A biotechnological academician and expert workstation was established in Kuandian, Liaoning province, on Aug 20. Shi Guang, mayor of Dandong, and Bao Xinhe, head of the Shenyang Branch of the Chinese Academy of Science, attended the inauguration ceremony.

Dandong has been developing a cooperative relationship with the Shenyang Branch of the Chinese Academy of Science. The academy has played a leading role in establishing academician and expert workstations in Liaoning province and other parts of the country. Bao said that the Shenyang Branch of the Chinese Academy of Science will make the most of its science and technology advantages and contribute to the development of Dandong.

The workstation is the first academician workstation in Kuandian and the sixth in Dandong. Zhang Yukui, an academician with the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, signed a cooperation agreement with Kuandian county during the opening ceremony, aiming to put scientific and technological achievements into use in local enterprises.

The workstation will help local enterprises train technicians as well as solve technical problems in the research and development of high value-added products.
