A seminar concerning investment in two economic zones in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was held in Beijing on Sept 26.
Chen Jian, China's vice-minister of commerce, said that joint development and management of the two economic zones was a major strategic measure for China and the DPRK, helping consolidate a cooperative relationship between the two sides. The zones will also help boost regional stability and prosperity. The two economic zones have been seeking investments and recently began construction.
Chen said that cooperation requires both sides to make joint efforts in exploring new and feasible methods for development. China has encouraged enterprises from home and abroad to invest and set up businesses in the two economic zones.
The Chinese and DPRK government have created planning frameworks and detailed development programs for the two economic zones. More efforts are being made in talent training and infrastructure construction.
