Shenyang Machine Tool (Group) Co was established in Dec 1995 on the basis of asset reconstruction of the Shenyang No 1 Machine Tool Plant, Shenyang No 2 Machine Tool Plant (Sino-Czech Friendship Plant) and Liaoning Precision Instrument Plant. It was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange on July 18, 1996. Its main production bases are located in China's Shenyang and Kunming and Germany’s Aschersleben.

In 2004, the production and sales volume of the plant's machine tools exceeded 50,000 units, of which CNC machine tools exceeded 6,000 units, ranking first in the domestic machine tool industry over the years.

The leading products of the company are metal cutting machine tools in two categories: CNC machine tools and general machine tools. It has more than 300 kinds of products with more than thousands of specifications sold across the country and exported to more than 80 other countries and regions.

Currently, the company's medium and high-end CNC machine tools have entered the core manufacturing fields of key industries, such as the automobiles, national defense military, aerospace and rail transportation. The rail beam production line and other CNC machine tool products have reached an international advanced level. In 2004, the company successfully merged Germany Heath Co, which has a 140-year history of heavy machine manufacturing, and reorganized Yunnan CY Group, known as the Chinese Gold Medal Export Base, marking that the company has started to begin international operations.

The company's development goal is to build a world-renowned brand and to become a world-renowned company. In 2011, it was ranked into the first batch of 55 companies that were selected as national technology innovation model enterprises.
