An information and communication technology industrial meeting took place in Shenyang, Liaoning province, on June 14-17 to explore opportunities for smart city construction.
The meeting included participants from governments and enterprises of China, Japan, and South Korea.
The information and communication industry, an integration of telecommunication and information services, has played a proactive role in city development, said Wang Zijiang, vice-secretary of the Shenyang People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, adding that the city of Shenyang sees many opportunities in the process of building a smart city.
Wang called for increased cooperation among related organizations in China, Japan, and South Korea to advance the industry.
Representatives of enterprises and institutes of the three countries talked over the ICT industries, including cloud computing, big data, smart hardware, 3D printing, and the Internet of Things. They signed cooperation intention agreements valued at $20 million.
The representatives also visited Shenyang's city planning display hall, the national equipment manufacturing industrial design center, and the Shenyang International Software Park, gaining a better understanding of ICT development in Shenyang and the city’s investment policies.
CT industrial exchanges have been held several times in Japan, South Korea, and Shenyang; this year’s event proved to be the largest since the first was held in 2014.
