The zone became a province-level economic development zone with Liaoning provincial government help in May 2006, and, since 2011, has completed work on 21 road projects with a total length of 15.6 kilometers, providing a complete road network. The new 110 hectares of green add a recreational park area. Work on a new consular area in the zone has begun on a 64.3-hectare piece of land, with 783.5 hectares for support facilities and industrial expansion. The area will hold consulates of the United States, Germany, and South Korea, with at least 25 others to follow, making it the third largest consular area in China.
The zone is looking for investors interested in emerging industries high technology and electronic information, services, and the media, as well as shopping centers, hypermarkets, and entertainment venues, over the next few years.
