Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu officially opened its Shenyang branch on Dec 6, becoming a new driving force behind the development of the city’s finance industry, Xinhua reported.
Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu is one of the "Big Four" accounting firms and the largest professional services network in the world. Its operational headquarters is in New York.
“Shenyang’s advantageous location and its good development momentum in the modern service industry attracted us to establish a branch here,” said Shi Nengzhi, a business partner of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu’s director in the North China region.
“More importantly, Shenyang has many strategic development opportunities as China remains determined to rejuvenate the Northeast China old industrial base,” Shi added.
The newly-opened Shenyang branch is located in Shenyang Finance and Trade Development Zone, which is home to Shenyang’s financial institutions.
Currently, Shenyang Finance and Trade Development Zone includes 779 financial businesses and their branches, among which banks, insurance institutes, securities agencies and futures institutes account for 506; businesses involved in fund management, equity investment and venture capital investment account for 273. The zone also has over 1,100 intermediary service businesses.
Both the number of Shenyang’s finance institutes and the economic contribution the finance institute has made rank first in Northeast China.
“The settlement of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu’s branch in Shenyang will help the city improve its international profile and provide more professional services for Shenyang’s businesses,” an official of Shenyang Finance and Trade Development Zone told an interviewer.
