Residents in Shenyang now have a good opportunity to taste authentic snack foods across China without having to leave the city, as the night market in Minglian Street of Huanggu district has recently opened, Shenyang Daily reported on April 17.
This year’s Xingshun Night Market, which opens from April 15 to Oct 20, has a reputation for its authentic-tasting snack foods in various categories.
During the event, people will have the chance to sample a total of 162 kinds of food at around 300 booths. Take Jiaohuaji (popularly known as "beggar's chicken"), a dish of chicken wrapped in lotus leaves and baked in clay as an example, all the ingredients are transported from Changshu in Jiangsu province, the origin of this traditional food.
To provide a convenient way for visitors to taste food, the Xingshun Night Market especially sets aside a 900-square-meter space as a public dining area. People can taste food as well as enjoy performances featuring local traditional customs there.
