As temperatures gradually drop with the arrival of deep autumn, Huanzidong National Wetland Park in Faku county, Shenyang sees many migratory birds stop for food and rest during their migration to warmer areas of southern China to escape the cold since the beginning of October.
Currently, Huanzidong National Wetland Park has seen seen more than 2,600 migratory birds, including white cranes, egrets, wild geese and black-headed gulls, forming a beautiful landscape.
Migratory birds in Huanzidong National Wetland Park will soon reach its peak, according to a staff member from the management center of Huanzidong National Wetland Park.
Huanzidong National Wetland Park is an important migratory corridor for birds in northeastern Asia. From December 2012, Huanzidong National Wetland Park has taken measures to improve the natural environment of the lake.
Due to the park’s improved wetland ecosystem, it has become an ideal habitat for migratory birds, and has seen a distinct increase in the number of wild animals over the past few years.
Every spring and autumn, it welcomes around 60,000 rare birds in 160 species, including over 2,000 white cranes, which land to recharge their batteries for between 90 and 100 days. The number of white cranes make stop in Huanzidong National Park accounts for over 70 percent among the global white crane groups.
