The number of high-tech companies in Shenyang had hit 847 by the end of 2017, ranking it first among cities in Northeast China. The industrial output of high-tech companies also increased to 55 percent for the whole city, representing year-on-year growth of 6.2 percentage points.
In recent years, Shenyang has been making efforts to develop a new economic driving force by encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship.
Under the guidance of the new innovation policies, a total of 370 million yuan ($57.69 million) has been used to support research and development of key technology projects and the commercialization of research achievements. About 200 high-tech companies and 300 high-tech start-ups have benefited from the policies, achieving breakthroughs in 490 key technologies.
It is playing an important role in accelerating the transformation and upgrading of the industrial structure of Shenyang.
Meanwhile, Shenyang’s innovation policies have attracted the establishment of high-tech projects from outside the city, such as China’s first 12-inch semiconductor film equipment manufacturing base, the SIASUN Robot Smart Industrial Park and BMW’s new energy battery factory.
