Chinese online auction website Taobao.com has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Lijiang municipal government. Combining Lijiang's tourism resources with the advantageous e-commerce platform of Taobao.com, the two sides will carry out a long-term cooperation on the promotion and marketing of Lijiang's tourism.
As the first in-depth cooperation program between the two parties, a group buying activity called "Millions of Taobao Users Tour Lijiang" was launched online on May 29, 2012 at the travel channel of Taobao (trip.taobao.com) and Juhuasuan.com. The group purchase activity will last for two weeks. This is the first large strategic cooperation program reached between Taobao.com and Yunnan province.
From this June to the end of the year, the travel channel of taobao.com will continue to promote Lijiang featured travel routes and preferential travel routes. During the program, a total of 500 million members of Taobao.com are expected to be attracted and more than one million of them will participate in the program by the end of the year.
