( chinadaily.com.cn )
2012-06-11

Various integrated tourism development projects in Yunnan province drew the attention of visitors at home and abroad at the 19th China Import & Export Fair in Kunming.

During the fair, famous tourist destinations in Yunnan such as Chuxiong, Xishuangbanna, Dali and Lijiang are the places where domestic and foreign capital focused attention . China Medical Group (Hong Kong) Ltd discussed their intention to invest $10 million to develop high-end dental hospitals in Dali, Lijiang and Chuxiong to provide medical services to tourists traveling from developed European and American countries.

The Hong Kong listed company Agile Property Holdings Limited plans to invest a tourist resort project including a wild life park in Jinghong, Yunnan province to increase the local tourist reception capacity. The Beijing Antaeus Group will also invest 3 billion yuan to build the Mangrove Tree international resort and meeting and exhibition hotel in Dali.

Yunnan has become an important port connecting China with countries and regions in Southeast Asia and South Asia. With convenient transport, an excellent ecological environment, rich tourism resources and products, and ever improving travel reception facilities, Yunnan is gradually becoming one of the most important tourist destinations in China.

"The Southern Ancient Silk Road" has bestowed Yunnan with a rich historical heritage and enabled it to develop its own unique local culture. Ancient Dian bronze culture, Dai ethnic Beiye culture, Dali Nanzhao culture and Lijiang Dongba culture, coupled with the various ethnic group habitats, makes Yunnan a famous tourist destination.
