The "First China-South Asia Education Sub-forum", co-hosted by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the People's Government of Yunnan province and SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will be held in Kunming from June 5 to 7, 2012. This is the first education forum that China has organized regarding South Asia.
The forum aims to increase the internationalization of higher education in Yunnan and to strengthen international exchanges with countries and regions in South Asia. An education platform will be established to promote the strategic cooperation between China and South Asian countries to enhance multi-level dialogues on education.
Eleven universities from eight countries in South Asia, officials from the state, provincial and municipal education departments, scholars and experts will participate in the sub-forum.
Five issues concerning education development and cooperation, human resources, and university development will be discussed during the forum. Participants will sign a memorandum of understanding or letter of intent for relevant cooperation programs.
