A Dongba-branded tea shop opened in Lijiang, Yunnan Province. It is another shop to feature Dongba culture in the ancient town.
Dongba tea is fermented using glacial melt water from Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Yulong.
Picked from the mountain tea garden in Menghai, Xishuangbanna, the tea leaves are dried naturally on the Diaojiaolou, a wooden house built on sturdy stilts found in southwest China. Following ancient tea house routes, horseback traders carried the tea back to Lijiang. Sprayed with the glacial melt water, the tea was made by tea masters and Dongba sages using ancient tea-making techniques.
The Dongba tea shop in Lijiang is the first branded shop selling Dongba tea in the country. Attracting attention since its appearance on the market at the beginning of 2012, Dongba tea has been sold in nearly 100 shops in cities such as Kunming, Xi'an, Wuhan and Shenyang.
