The Third Criticizing and Advice-Giving Seminar of the Old Town of Lijiang kicked off at the Snow Mountains Academy on June 7.

More than 100 people attended the seminar, including representatives of local residents of the Old Town of Lijiang, local Lijiang people and scholars. They gathered at the seminar to give suggestions to the old town in order to make it a better place.

The seminar was a pre-celebration of the eighth Cultural Heritage Day of China and also a communication platform for authorities and residents in Lijiang to discuss the development and future of the old town.

The seminar focused on fire safety, automobiles and traffic, and water resources in the old town.

He Shiyong, the director of the Lijiang Old Town Protection Authority, answered questions raised by the attendants. He Shiyong also called for actual actions from people to protect the town.

He also made a report on the implementations of advice offered by the seminar last year. The old town belonged to everyone and people all had the responsibility and right to protect it, said He.

Attendants actively participated in the Q&A section of the seminar and provided many valuable pieces of advice. More than 150,000 netizens watched the live broadcast online.

Mainstream media including China Daily and Xinhuanet.com reported on the seminar through live updates on weibo.
