Discounts on new air route to attract more visitors

Yunnan Xiangpeng Airlines has introduced its winter and spring promotion on Oct 21 with discounts on various routes, and the discounted price for a new direct route from Taiyuan to Lijiang, in Yunnan province, has attracted much attention, xinhuanet.com reported.

This promotion involves discounts of as much as 85 percent, and many travel agencies are very positive about the potential of tours to Lijiang.

The new route will be launched on Oct 27, with a full price ticket in economy costing 2,040 yuan ($335.38). The flight will depart from Lijiang at 8:25 am, and land in Taiyuan at 11:05 am. The return flight will depart from Taiyuan at 12:00 pm and land in Lijiang at 14:40 pm.

According to the official website of Yunnan Xiangpeng Airlines, the company will offer discounts ranging from 62 to 85 percent on tickets sold in the month following the launch of the promotion.

Ke Zhiqiang, vice-general manager of Yunnan Huaxia International Travel Agency, said that following the introduction of China's new travel regulations, the price of group tours has increased by about 20 percent, which means that such tours are beyond the reach of many of the country's residents.

He also said that these discounted tickets mean that such tours are much more affordable for the general public, and the flight time is greatly reduced on this direct three-hour flight, so the travel agencies are expected to attract more clients.
