Lijiang holds promotion meeting in Singapore

Singapore saw the opening of a Lijiang tourism promotion and economic cooperation meeting on Jan 13. The sponsor introduced Lijiang's scenery, folklore, economy and social situation as it related to tourism, Xinhua reported.

Yang Suyin, head of the Lijiang investment promotion bureau, said at the meeting that the opening of a direct flight between Singapore and Lijiang in October 2013 offered easier access for tourism and economic cooperation between the two. According to Yang, Lijiang boasts not only rich tourism resources, but also possesses profound clean energy and mineral resources, making it an ideal place for investment.

Lijiang received a total of 20.79 million tourists in 2013, including 996,700 overseas visitors. The Old Town of Lijiang, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Laojun Mountain and Lugu Lake are among the developed scenic spots in the region.
