Lijiang Airport welcomes 4-millionth passenger

2013 was the 18th year since Lijiang Airport began operations to 39 domestic and foreign cities. In 2013, a total of 4 million passengers and 37,014 flights passed through the airport.

On Dec 31, 2013, Xiangteng aviation flight 8L9817 landed safely in Lijiang Sanyi Airport, marking Lijiang Airport's 18th year of operation.

Lijiang Airport made remarkable achievements in 2013, with steady developments regarding line operation, resource utilization, service quality, safe operation, market development and cost control.

Compared to 2012, a total of 37,014 flights arrived and departed, up 41.83 percent. Passenger throughput rose 38.65 percent to 4 million. Lijiang Airport exceeded its 3.52 million passenger throughput goal.

With a throughput of 524,700 passengers, a peak of 160 flights, August saw records in the number of monthly flight movements, passenger throughput and flights.

Focusing on a strategy to build a national hub, Kunming Changshui International Airport has strengthened the development of routes from Lijiang to Kunming and promoted the construction of the Intercity Express from Kunming to Lijiang. circles within the province from Lijiang to Kunming, Xishuangbanna and Tengchong, have been added to enhance the rapid development of the airport.

At present, a total of 27 domestic and foreign airlines have opened regular flights to Lijiang (including 23 domestic airlines and four international ones). A total of 39 cities can reach Lijiang (including 34 domestic cities and five foreign cities and regions).
