The second International Traditional Wushu (Chinese martial arts) Culture festival will open in Lijiang, in southwest China's Yunnan province, from August 15-25, Xinhua.net reported.

Apart from 300 traditional wushu performances, a new category of professional combat champions will be added to this year's festival.

Traditional music performances and painting exhibitions will also be organized during the festival.

Wen Min, vice director of Lijiang's municipal administration of culture, radio film & TV, said that Lijiang has put a big focus on promoting culture and connecting culture with its tourism products.

Statistics show that more than 2,000 contestants have registered to enter the festival. Organizations, such as Wushu associations and martial arts schools, are still in the process of applying to enter the festival.
