A mango promotion event was held in the Yuhe Plaza of Lijiang ancient town from Aug 15 to 17. Zhang Weiguo, Lijiang's vice mayor attended the event.

"This promotion aims to find a market for local mangos while it also helps the market to know about local mangos as well," said Zou Jie, the director of Huaping Golden Mango Development Enterprise, which is the organizer of this promotion.

Most of the mangos in Huaping county ripen from August to October which are late-maturing compared with mangos in other regions of China. However, these late-maturing mangos are tastier since the big temperature difference between day and night is good for mango growing.

"The mangos here are the biggest I've ever seen and they taste quite delicious," said a tourist from Sichuan province.

In 2013, the mango planting area in Huaping county reached 10,666 hectares. Last year, the output value of mango in Huaping county was 500 million yuan ($81.40 million).
