Kunming Airlines and Air China started code-sharing on Sept 15 on some of their domestic air services. Earlier, the two had signed a cooperation agreement in Kunming.

“Air China has put its focus on cooperation with other airlines in recent years, and hopes that with the cooperation with Kunming Airlines, the airline networks of Yunnan will be improved so that we can bring more conveniences to tourists to and from Yunnan province,” said Lou Yongfeng, manager of the International Affairs and Cooperation Department of Air China.

According to the agreement, both airlines will take Kunming as a joint point to connect their flight routes. Air China’s 210 weekly flights will also carry the Kunming Airlines code of KY and Kunming Airline’s nearly 500 weekly flights will also operate under Air China’s code of CA.

Executive vice president of Kunming Airlines, Liu Rui said that Kunming Airlines is the local airline company of Yunnan province and with the code-sharing cooperation with Air China, Kunming Airlines will learn operating and service lessons from the advanced airline company of China.

Kunming airlines’ flight routes have spread over most of the second and third-tier cities in Yunnan province. Air China’s flight routes have covered 32 countries and regions. As the biggest air service carrier between China-Europe and China-America in China, it reaches 162 destinations.
