The Lion Mountain, also known as the Gemu Goddess Mountain, is located by Lugu Lake. In the local dialect, Gemu means white goddess.

The local people regard the mountain as the goddess's embodiment and they offer sacrifices to her every 25 July in the lunar calendar. The fete has more than 1000 years' history and it is one of the most important festivals for the local people.

The Gemu Goddess Cave is 3,450 meters above sea level and faces Lugu Lake. Standing at the entrance of the Gemu Goddess Cave, tourists can get a panoramic view of the Lake.

The Lion Mountain's main peak is 3,754 meters above sea level and the mountain looks like a big lion standing on the north shore.
